YOGA + MEDITATION : Online with Guest Teacher Tulasi (Rachel) Ramirez
May 30, 2020 @ 10:45 am - 1:00 pm CDT

We have invited a seasoned and compassionate yoga teacher, Tulasi (Rachel) Ramirez to teach us about yoga as a spiritual practice, and its relationship with meditation.
EVENT DESCRIPTION :
Ashtanga (8-limbed) or Raja yoga is a journey from the gross to the subtle; from physical postures and guidelines for outer behaviors/inner attitudes to meditation, awareness and oneness. We will begin the class with a brief introduction to yoga followed by yoga asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) practices, ending with a guided seated meditation practice.
FREE & OPEN TO ALL :
No Fee. No prior knowledge of yoga or meditation practices necessary.
A yoga mat or a blanket is recommended but not required (scroll down for more information on preparation). If mobility constraints are a concern, Tulasi will show you how to practice yoga on a chair.
EVENT SCHEDULE :

Join with audio-only by phone: 312-626-6799 / Meeting ID: 727507599#.
PREPARATION FOR ONLINE YOGA :
This online yoga class will focus on the connection between gentle, effective movement and the breath instead of strenuous yoga postures. If you are comfortable, you can keep your camera on to allow Tulasi to offer verbal adjustments.
A yoga mat, while helpful, is not necessary; if you do not have a mat you can practice on a carpeted or bare floor, perhaps with a folded towel or blanket to use beneath the knees. You may also prepare a blanket to use (to keep warm) during the final relaxation posture (savasana).
**Please note that a carpeted or bare floor is preferable for physical yoga practices over a padded exercise mat.
DONATION WELCOME — TO HELP COVER DANA:
We offer this event at no-cost so that financial burdens would not prevent anyone from attending. However, if you are able to donate, whether or not you are attending the class, it will greatly help us to provide Dana (alms) to the teacher. Tulasi has actually kindly offered to share her time and teaching with us free of charge. However, to express our gratitude and appreciation, we would like to make a Dana offering of $50 to her.
Your donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
Thank you very much for your generosity!

==================
ABOUT THE TEACHER :
Tulasi (Rachel) Ramirez is a Chicago-based yoga teacher and practitioner who came to yoga as a healing practice as a young teenager, when yoga brought both healing from physical injuries and a way to dive into inner stillness and expansiveness. She has since trained over 800 hrs in vinyasa and hatha yoga styles, particularly from the Sivananda and Dharma yoga lineages.
Tulasi is a perennial student and looks forward to sharing space with a like-minded group of meditators.
